Dr. Risley is an associate professor and head of the Department of Journalism at Pennsylvania State University. A past president of the American Journalism Historians Association (AJHA), he is the author ofAbolition and the Press: The Moral Struggle Against Slavery, winner of the AJHA’s award for best book on media history published in 2008, and editor of The Civil War: Primary Documents from 1860 to 1865.
Light refreshments will be served; a tour of the museum is also included.
Following the presentation, Dr. Risley will be available for a book signing.
